Admission Arrangements

The De Lacy Academy Governing Body will act as the Admissions Authority for the Academy as part of the co-ordinated scheme with the local authority. Following due consultation in accordance with the national Schools Admission Code, December 2014, the Governing Body of the Academy has agreed the following Admissions Policy for the academic year 2016-17.

It should be noted that this policy relates only to the academic year 2016-2017 There is no guarantee that the policy will not change for future years.

Parents of children in Year 6 must apply for a place in the Academy using the local authority’s Common Application Form which must be completed and returned as specified on the form. This process can be completed online via the local authority’s website. Only under exceptional circumstances will late applications be accepted – until 21st November 2016. Applications received after this date will only be considered after those applications which were submitted on time.

Parents living within the boundaries of different education authorities may still choose De Lacy Academy as a preferred secondary school but must complete the application form provided by their local authority which will then pass on the information to the local authority in Wakefield.

There will be 210 places available for Year 7 in September 2017. The Published Admission Number (PAN) for the Academy is: 210    

All enquiries regarding admissions into De Lacy Academy should be addressed to the Assistant Principal of Inclusion.

All appeals for De Lacy Academy should be sent directly to the academy and marked for the attention of the admissions officer. All appeal requests received by 04.04.17 will be heard within 40 school days. De Lacy Academy has provisionally set aside Thursday 18th and Friday 19th May for incoming year 7 appeals. You will receive at least 10 school days’ notice of any appeal hearing from the independent appeals clerk. Appeals submitted after 04.04.17 will be heard within 30 school days from the date the appeal is received. We will endeavour to accommodate late appeals however there is no guarantee they will be heard prior to the end of the academic year.
