    De Lacy Academy achieves award for careers work

     

    De Lacy Academy, in Knottingley, has been recognised for its outstanding careers work this week. The school has been awarded the Quality in Careers Standard awarded by Prospects.  The Quality in Careers Standard is awarded to schools and education providers who can demonstrate the importance they place on careers and how they support students to make decisions about their life after school.

  • Writing Competition Winners

    Thank you to all year 8's who entered the careers writing competition, there was some very good quality writing. Top 3 winners will be announced in next week's assembly. These will go forward to the company competition ( Topic U.K.).

     

     

  • University of Lincoln Philosophy Competition

    18th January 2018

    University of Lincoln are hosting a philosophy competition. Entries need to evaluate What is Love? Entries need to be no longer than 1500 words. Winners will receive £100.

    If you would like to get involved entries need to be given to Miss Williams before Monday 12th March.

  • Auditions for 'Our Day Out'

    Auditions are being held for Our Day Out on Wednesday 17th January from 2.30pm - 3.15pm in the Drama Studio. We are looking for actors, singers and backstage crew.

    No scripts needed before the audition. Come along and find out more about the musical.

    If you're in Y8 or Y9 and want to enter a writing competiton for our region - please see Ms Robson. You need to write a 400 word article on a sector/company/job in anticipation of Careers Week. The best entries form the area will be published in the February edition of TopicUK magazine!

  • Pie Night

    Thursday night is Pie Night! Please come and join us if you're a Y11 parent and have a steak/chicken pie on us! We're having a quick evening to go through what's in store for Y11s this term and we're also giving out free revision guides for many subject areas. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, get resources and have a free meal.

    Looking forward to seeing you from 5:30pm in the Main Hall. Please e mail or ring reception to let us know you're coming - and if you need a vegetarian option.

  • Visit to London

    Some of our Lead Out Loud students travelled to London yesterday to visit the Houses of Parliament.

    They met with Yvette Cooper and discussed what matters to them about their local community. Students also got the chance to observe from the gallery to listen to Boris Johnson debating in the House of Lords.

  • Next week is colours week!

     Colours week begins on Monday 16th October.

    Students will receive their colour pin badges for contributing to wider Academic life in assemblies all next week, look out for them on your child's blazer lapel.

  • Pencils for Grenfell Campaign

    21st September 2017

    Students at De Lacy ran a campaign to collect writing equipment to send to Ark Burlington Danes Academy for students affected by the Grenfell fire. We had a great response from students and staff to this appeal.

    All donations have been greatly received by Ark Burlingtons, we had this letter from them today to thank our students. Well done De Lacy!

  • De Lacy Academy Post 16 Market Place

    21st September 2017

    De Lacy Academy are hosting a Market Place on Wednesday 27th September for all year 10 and 11 students and parents to come along and meet local colleges and businesses. There will be lots of information on hand about college courses, apprenticeship, traineeships and careers advice in general.

    The main hall will be open from 4.30pm to 6pm, come along and have a chat with us to see what there is on offer.

  • GCSE Celebrations

    Students and staff at De Lacy Academy, part of Delta Academies Trust, are celebrating the success of our GCSE results for this academic year.  Congratulations to all our students who have worked extremely hard and gained some fantastic grades across the curriculum.  Students dealt well with the move to tougher GCSE grades with record numbers achieving the higher grades.  There has again been a great performance in subjects across the curriculum this year.
