  • Year 9 & 10 Go Higher University Trip

    10th May 2018

    25 of each year group had a University Experience day which they really enjoyed and found inspirational and informative. They worked with student ambassadors throughout the day, had a campus tour and designed their dream university which they presented to the whole group.

    One of the feedback comments of the day was "The campus tour was the best. This has made me feel more confident for when I move to University".

     We have a winner from our March prize draw. Miss Harbottle, mum of a year 9 student downloaded our new school gateway app and was lucky enough to win a SMART TV.

  • We raised £287 for World Cancer Day

    6th February 2018

    What a great day we had on Friday raising money for World Cancer Day.

    Students wore pink socks, cheered on staff who volunteered to have their legs waxed and bought lots of cakes, cookies and cupcakes from the bake sale.

    Thank you to all staff who got involved in the day, to parents and staff who baked some lovely cookies, buns and cakes for everyone to buy and to Miss McIlroy and her band of students who organised the day.

    Rikki Banks won the 'name the rabbit' competition, students chose the name M.C. Flopste

    This year in alliance with World Cancer Day, De Lacy Academy intends to support Cancer Research and raise money on Friday 2nd February. Throughout the day, we will be hosting a number of events and activities including: Pink Socks, Name the Teddy Bear, Leg Waxing and a Coffee Morning. Please find more details below.

    De Lacy Academy, in Knottingley, has been recognised for its outstanding careers work this week. The school has been awarded the Quality in Careers Standard awarded by Prospects.  The Quality in Careers Standard is awarded to schools and education providers who can demonstrate the importance they place on careers and how they support students to make decisions about their life after school.

  • University of Lincoln Philosophy Competition

    University of Lincoln are hosting a philosophy competition. Entries need to evaluate What is Love? Entries need to be no longer than 1500 words. Winners will receive £100.

    If you would like to get involved entries need to be given to Miss Williams before Monday 12th March.

  • Auditions for 'Our Day Out'

    Auditions are being held for Our Day Out on Wednesday 17th January from 2.30pm - 3.15pm in the Drama Studio. We are looking for actors, singers and backstage crew.

  • Pie Night

    Thursday night is Pie Night! Please come and join us if you're a Y11 parent and have a steak/chicken pie on us! We're having a quick evening to go through what's in store for Y11s this term and we're also giving out free revision guides for many subject areas. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, get resources and have a free meal.

  • Visit to London

    Some of our Lead Out Loud students travelled to London yesterday to visit the Houses of Parliament.

    They met with Yvette Cooper and discussed what matters to them about their local community. Students also got the chance to observe from the gallery to listen to Boris Johnson debating in the House of Lords.
