Enrichment in Science

Science club has always been popular here at De Lacy. Science club allows students to engage with science topics and experience practical activities that are not covered by the National Curriculum.  Science club activities have included making rockets, egg drop competition and rat dissection, along with especially themed activities such as making sparklers for bonfire night.

Throughout the year, we offer a variety of trips to experience science in the real world. In recent years we have taken trips to Drax power station, the Coca Cola factory in Wakefield, The National Coal Mining Museum and taken students on residentials to the Trust’s outdoor centre at Dallowgill. We’ve also taken students in Years 9, 10 and 11 to the Delta Trust Science Mavericks Events.
