The inclusion of a varied Technology programme is at the heart of what we have here at De Lacy Academy. We acknowledge the need for students to learn cutting edge techniques with the latest equipment thus sharpening students’ skills: Skills such as communication, complex problem-solving self-direction, and research.
Our Technology programme hosts an array of inspiring, rigorous, theoretical and practical subjects. Students will use creativity and imagination to design and make products, programmes, food, and textiles that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. Students will acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, computing, PE and art.
The Technology curriculum is designed to provide all learners with the knowledge and competencies needed to be creative, independent and with an ability to articulate their learning. The curriculum has been planned and sequenced to allow learners to be challenged, knowing more, and remembering more by revisiting tasks through each key stage.
