One of the biggest employers in our area is the NHS, who throughout the pandemic have gained the respect and gratitude of the nation. Students have the opportunity to develop key skills within the Health and Social care subject at De Lacy Academy that can put them on the correct pathway to a rewarding career within the sector and beyond.
Students studying the OCR Level 1/2 Cambridge Nationals in Health and Social Care will explore the essential knowledge and skills needed for working in care-related settings. The course covers key topics such as understanding how to support individuals through life events, effective communication in health and social care environments, and the principles of care that ensure dignity, respect, and safeguarding. Learners will complete a combination of coursework and external assessments, applying what they learn to realistic scenarios. This vocational qualification helps students develop practical and transferable skills such as empathy, problem-solving, and teamwork, preparing them for further study or future careers in health, social care, or early years settings.
At Key Stage 4 the students who choose Health and Social Care at KS4 will follow the OCR Cambridge Nationals specification. To view this image in more detail, please click the OCR Specification below.
